Nepal drawn in easy group

Kathmandu, Nepal’s national women’s football team has been drawn into the 

the easiest group of 6th Women’s SAFF Championship 2022 that will be held from 6th to 19th September at Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu, Nepal.

According to the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), the draw ceremony held in Dhaka, Bangladesh 

on Saturday saw Host Nepal drawn into the group ‘B’ alongside Sri Lanka and Bhutan. Similarly, the defending champion India has been drawn into group ‘A’ alongside Bangladesh, Maldives, and Pakistan. 

The South Asian Football governing body, SAFF, has divided its seven-member nations into the two groups.

Meanwhile, Nepal had also hosted the previous edition of the SAFF Championship at Biratnagar, Nepal while India lifted the title beating host Nepal in the final.

Team Nepal has already kicked off their close-camp for the 6th edition of the SAFF Championship under 

Coach Kumar Thapa. Nepal’s national women’s football team head coach Kumar Thapa called 58 women’s footballers for the initial phase of close-camp training kicked off at ANFA Complex, Satdobato, Lalitpur.

Team India has won all five previous editions of the Women’s SAFF Championship titles while Nepal has finished runner-up in four editions out of five and Bangladesh has finished runner-up in 2016.
