"Nepal is a Tough Side," Says Oman Captain Jatinder Singh After Victory Over Nepal 'A'

KATHMANDU – Oman’s captain, Jatinder Singh, has praised the depth of talent in the Nepali circuit following his team’s victory over Nepal 'A' in a practice match. Speaking after the game, Singh expressed satisfaction with his squad's performance while acknowledging that Nepal remains a formidable opponent on their home turf.

Praise for Nepal 'A' Talent

Singh was quick to credit the opposition, noting that the developmental side pushed them hard during the match. "Nepal is a tough side, and Nepal 'A' has some real, serious talent," Singh said. He specifically highlighted Nepal’s strong start in the run chase, stating that the way they began was "brilliant" and gave the Omani side a "tough time in the middle".

Oman’s Readiness and Conditions

With Oman coming fresh off a series in Namibia, Singh noted that the team is in peak "in-season" form. With only three changes to their core squad, the players have been playing regular cricket, which helped them adapt to the local conditions. "It’s a completely different surface and ground, but I’m happy with the way the boys showed their character in this situation," he added.

Looking Ahead to League 2

Addressing the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 challenges, where Nepal is under significant pressure to perform, Singh maintained a grounded perspective. He emphasized that Oman does not view any team as lesser than themselves. "On any particular day, whoever plays better and makes fewer mistakes wins the game," he remarked. He stated that the team would not get "over the moon" but would instead take the tournament game by game.

The Battle of the Left-Armers

When asked about Nepal’s historical struggles against left-arm spin, Singh noted that Oman is well-equipped for the senior series. "We have three left-armers in our side, and they are ready to take the field," Singh said. However, he acknowledged that Nepal also possesses quality left-arm spinners, predicting a "contest between the left-armers" throughout the entire series.

Oman looks to carry this momentum into the official series, viewing this win as a solid stepping stone for the challenges ahead at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground.
