ACB Announces the ACC Men's Asia Cup 2023 Team  

Kabul, The selection committee for the Afghanistan Cricket Board Sunday announced a 17-person national squad for the ACC Men's Asia Cup 2023, which will be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17.

Two fast bowlers from Afghanistan's last home ODI series against Pakistan, Mohammad Saleem Safi and Abdul Rahman, have kept their spots in the lineup; however, Fareed Ahmad and Wafadar Momand have been taken off the roster for the ACC Men's Asia Cup in 2023.

A side injury has eliminated seam-bowling all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai from the competition. To act as backup all-rounders for the team, Gulbadin Naib and Karim Janat have been added. A left-arm spin bowling all-rounder named Sharafuddin Ashraf has also been added to the team as a backup spinner.

Najibullah Zadran has been added to the squad despite missing the recently finished Pakistan Series owing to a knee ailment. He is expected to heal in time for the event. He was replaced in the series by Shahidullah Kamal, who is not on the team for the Asia Cup.
