Aditi Swami wins the individual World Title at the World Archery Championships

Aditi Swami made history on Saturday when she won the solo World Title in the World Archery Championships final in Berlin, becoming the first Indian woman to do so. Aditi, a 17-year-old Indian, won the senior world championship less than two months after winning the junior one when she defeated Andrea Becerra of Mexico 149–147 in the compound women's event's championship match. The Satara teen's victory made him the first Indian Senior World Championships individual event world champion.

Following Aditi Swami's victory in the women's competition, Ojas Deotale of India made history by defeating Lukasz Przybylski of Poland 150-149 in the exciting final to win the title of Men's Individual Compound World Champion.

In an all-Indian semifinal earlier in the day, Aditi defeated her "idol," Jyothi Surekha Vennam, 149-145.

However, Jyothi went on to win a bronze medal after she defeated Turkish competitor Ipek Tomruk by four points with a perfect 150 in the third-place playoff.

Aditi, Parneet Kaur, and Jyothi Surekha Vennam won the compound women's team final yesterday, giving India its first-ever gold medal at the World Archery Championships.
