American Batter Milind Kumar Joins Kathmandu Gorkhas for Upcoming Nepal Premier League Season
Kathmandu, October 30 — American batter Milind Kumar has officially signed with Kathmandu Gorkhas for the upcoming season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
The 34-year-old right-handed batter becomes the third foreign signing for Kathmandu Gorkhas, a franchise owned by Kathmandu Sports Development Ventures Pvt. Ltd. The team has already roped in South African wicketkeeper-batter Ricardo Vasconcelos and Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus.
Milind is currently in fine form. During the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 series in Dubai — which also features Nepal — he scored 70 runs off 50 balls against Nepal and 71 runs off 81 balls against the UAE.
Born in Delhi, Milind made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2011 and later represented Sikkim and Tripura in India’s domestic circuit.
He has also been part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) twice — first with the Delhi Daredevils in 2014 for INR 1 million and later with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019 for his base price of INR 2 million. However, he did not get the opportunity to play in the IPL.
In 2021, Milind transitioned to American cricket through Minor League Cricket, where he established himself as a key performer. He currently ranks third among the top run-scorers in the ongoing World Cup League 2 tournament.
With his signing, Kathmandu Gorkhas’ batting lineup looks significantly strengthened ahead of the new NPL season.
