Bahrain to host Asian Weightlifting Championship

Manama, Jul 3 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain will host the Asian Weightlifting Championship –Manama 2022- on October 6-16.
 
The Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF) Executive Board announced the organization of continental sporting event in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the first time.
 
Bahrain Weightlifting Association Chairman Ishaaq Ibrahim Ishaaq welcomed the 2022 edition of the Asian championship, stressing the importance of the historic event in consolidating the Kingdom’s standing as a destination for major, regional and international and sporting championships.
 
He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, hailing royal directives to consolidate Bahrain’s standing on the map of international sports.
 
He praised the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to turn the Kingdom of Bahrain into a destination for major sporting events.
 
He also praised the support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Chairman and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, SCYS First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chair and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President.
