June 23, 2025:
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz named as captain. The series is scheduled to take place in Colombo and Pallekele from July 2 to July 8.
The squad features five pace bowlers, with Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman making their return after recovering from injuries. Despite struggling with form, T20I captain Litton Das has been included in the team in hopes of regaining his rhythm through the 50-over format.
Veteran players Mahmudullah, who recently retired from international cricket, and Mushfiqur Rahim, who stepped away from ODIs, have not been included. In their place, the selectors have opted for emerging talents like Shamim Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Hasan Mahmud, and Mohammad Naim.
Chief selector Ashraf Hossain commented on Litton Das’ inclusion, saying:
"He is going through a rough patch, but as the T20 captain, we want to support him. Spending more time in the middle can help him regain form, and we believe ODIs can provide that opportunity."
