Bhupendra and Suden to Compete in Martial Arts Championship in the UK
Kathmandu, June 24 – Nepali martial artists Bhupendra Gurung and Suden Gurung are set to travel to the United Kingdom on Thursday to participate in the World United Martial Arts (WUMA) European Championship.
The championship is scheduled to take place on June 29 in Cheltenham, UK. Both athletes will compete in two events each. Bhupendra will take part in the Chinese Traditional Form and Soft Style categories, while Suden, who will be making his international debut, will compete in the Chinese Creative Form and Chinese Traditional Form events.
Prior to the UK event, Bhupendra will also compete in the WMAC German Open, an international martial arts competition organized by the World Martial Arts Committee (WMAC). The German Open will be held in Simmern, Germany, from June 27 to 29. Bhupendra will fly to Germany via the UK and will participate in the same categories as in the WUMA Championship.
The Nepali team was officially bid farewell on Tuesday by officials from the Nepal WUMA Kung Fu Association. The farewell ceremony included the association’s president and international referee Sanjit Kumar Rai, vice president Ramesh Maharjan, chief coach Deepak Shrestha, and Shankhapark Tai Chi Club president Shyam Gautam.
The WUMA European Championship is organized by the WUMA headquarters based in the UK and is expected to feature top martial artists from across Europe and beyond.
