Biratnagar Kings Secure First Qualifier Spot With Comfortable 6-Wicket Victory
Kathmandu — Biratnagar Kings booked their place in the first qualifier with a dominant 6-wicket win over Sudurpashchim Royals on Saturday.
Powered by explosive batting from openers Faf du Plessis and Sam Heazlett, Biratnagar chased down the 148-run target in just 11.5 overs, losing only four wickets at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Sudurpashchim, who were sent in to bat after losing the toss, posted 147/6 in 20 overs. Arif Sheikh top-scored with an unbeaten 45, while Ishan Pandey (38), Josh Brown (24), and Binod Bhandari (15) contributed useful runs. Captain Dipendra Singh Airee (19), Deepak Bohara (3), and Harmit Singh (0) fell cheaply.
Biratnagar’s skipper Sandeep Lamichhane led the bowling attack with 3 wickets, while Pratish GC picked up two and Basir Ahmed claimed one.
In reply, Biratnagar’s opening duo produced a blistering start.

Martin Guptill scored 22, and Basir Ahmed added 8. Lokesh Bam (3*) and Pratish GC (13*) guided the team home comfortably. For Sudurpashchim, Abhinash Bohara took two wickets, and Harmit Singh picked one.
With this win, Biratnagar Kings will face Sudurpashchim Royals again in the first qualifier. Sudurpashchim tops the table with 12 points from seven matches, while Biratnagar sits second with 10 points.
