Captain Chhetri hopeful of securing berth at Asia Cup

Kathmandu, Nepali women's cricket team captain Rubina Chhetri was hopeful of returning home by securing the spot at the 2022 Women's T-20 Asia Cup slated for October 2022 in Bangladesh.

Addressing the farewell function held in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Skipper Chhetri said the Nepali team would convert their title dream and secure the spot at the Asia Cup.

"We have been playing this type of tournament for a long time. So, we are not under pressure in the qualifiers.  

"We always travel for the different tournaments in the different nations intending to win the title, which we have not achieved so far. 

This time, too, we have aimed of returning home with a title," Captain Chhetri added. After losing the Uganda series, we have prepared very well by training eight hours a day," Captain Chhetri said.

Head coach Jagat Tamata expressed his confidence in winning the title of the T20 Championship.

"I am confident about winning the title. Players have worked hard for the championship. I hope for the best result on our side.

"Hard work pays off, so we all are positive," Coach Tamata said.

National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Tank Lal Ghising and CAN officials jointly bade farewell to the women's cricket team.

They will leave for Malaysia on Wednesday.

The ACC Women's T-20 Championship starts on June 17 in Kuala Lumpur.
