England’s John Simpson to Join Kathmandu Gorkhas for Nepal Premier League

Kathmandu, December 3 – Former England international John Simpson is set to feature in the upcoming season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), representing Kathmandu Gorkhas.

The franchise, owned by Kathmandu Sports Development Ventures Pvt. Ltd., confirmed the signing of the 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batter for NPL Season 2.

Simpson has represented England in three One Day Internationals (ODIs), all during Pakistan’s 2021 tour of England. He made 17 runs and took five catches in the second ODI at Lord’s—a match that marked one of his standout performances.

An experienced domestic campaigner, Simpson has played over 540 matches in English domestic cricket, amassing more than 16,500 runs. His first-class record includes 11,351 runs with 19 centuries across 229 matches.

Kathmandu Gorkhas had earlier strengthened their squad by signing several international players, including South African wicketkeeper-batter Ricardo Vasconcelos, Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus, American batter Milind Kumar, and English county cricketer Ben Charlesworth.

With Simpson’s addition, Kathmandu Gorkhas are expected to field one of the strongest lineups in the upcoming NPL season.
