Former national cricket team captain Sandeep is suspended by CAN
Kathmandu, The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has suspended a player of the Nepali national cricket team and former captain, Sandeep Lamichhane.
In a press release issued today, CAN Chairperson Chatur Bahadur Chand said Sandeep has been suspended from national and international matches as the Kathmandu District Court has already declared him guilty in a rape case.
The Kathmandu District Court slapped Lamichhane with eight years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 500,000 on Wednesday. A single bench of Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal issued such a verdict. On December 29, 2023, the court declared Sandeep guilty on the charge of raping 'Gaushala-26'.
