ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Kicks Off Today with Three Matches Across India and Sri Lanka

Kathmandu: The 10th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup gets underway today, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Often described as the grand festival of cricket, the tournament will feature three matches on the opening day, with the clash between hosts India and the United States drawing special attention.

The opening match of the World Cup will be played between Pakistan and the Netherlands in Group A. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:15 am Nepali time at Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Later in the day, Scotland will face West Indies in Group C, which also includes Nepal. This match will be played in Kolkata, India, starting at 3:15 pm Nepali time.

The most anticipated match of the day will see hosts India take on the United States in another Group A fixture. The match will begin at 7:15 pm Nepali time at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium. According to the ICC, a grand opening ceremony will be held ahead of this match.

The opening ceremony will feature performances by Indian artists Rishabh Sharma and Shivmani, popular rapper Badshah, and Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi. Their performances are expected to create a vibrant musical atmosphere inside the stadium.

Meanwhile, Nepal will play its first World Cup match on Sunday against England. Facing a strong side like England in their opening game is expected to give an early indication of how Nepal’s World Cup campaign may unfold.
