Kathmandu: Nepal suffered a narrow 4-run defeat against England in their opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup.
The game, held on Monday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, saw Nepal chasing England’s total of 185 runs but falling short by just 4 runs. Nepal finished their 20 overs with a score of 180 for 6 wickets.
For England, Jacob Bethell top-scored with 55 runs off 35 balls, hitting four fours and four sixes. Harry Brook contributed 53 runs off 32 balls, including four fours and three sixes, while Will Jacks remained unbeaten on 39 and Jos Buttler scored 26 runs.
Nepal’s batting was led by Dipendra Singh Airee with 44 runs, Rohit Paudel 39, and Kushal Bhurtel 29. Lokesh Bam remained unbeaten on 39 runs.
In bowling, England’s Liam Dawson took 2 wickets, while Will Jacks, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, and Luke Wood picked up one wicket each.
For Nepal, Dipendra Singh Airee and Nandan Yadav took 2 wickets apiece, while Sandeep Lamichhane and Sher Malla claimed 1 wicket each.
