Int'l Peace Marathon-2023 in Lumbini tomorrow
Lumbini, A Marathon is going to be organised at Lumbini on Thursday on the occasion of International Day of Sports for Peace and Development.
Madan Bhandari Sports Academy, Nepal Olympic Committee and Province Sports Council, Lumbini, are jointly organising the International Peace Marathon-2023.
At a press conference organised here Wednesday, it was shared that the Marathon is going to be organised with the objective of promoting tourism in Lumbini through the medium of sports.
General-Secretary of Nepal Olympic Committee, Nilendra Raj Shrestha, said athletes of 207 countries were invited to participate in the marathon. The marathon that would start from Tilaurakot palace of Kapilvastu at 7:00 am and conclude after reaching Shantideep of Lumbini.
Shrestha shared that it was expected that runners from more than 50 different countries along with departmental teams of Nepal would participate in marathon.
The winner of marathon would get Rs 100,000 while first runner up would receive Rs 50,000 and second runner-up Rs 25,000. The top 10 runners will be facilitated, according to the organisers.
