IPL: Royal Challengers Bangalore were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders by 81 runs.
Kathmandu, In their opening game of the IPL 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 81 runs at Kolkata's Eden Gardens. Chasing a target of 205 runs, RCB were dismissed for just 123 runs in 17.4 overs, with Suyash Sharma collecting three wickets for KKR and Varun Chakaravarthy taking four.
Sunil Narine also managed two dismissals, one of which was Virat Kohli. Michael Bracewell was the one wicket Shardul Thakur managed to take. Previously, RCB chose to field after winning the toss.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) produced 204 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs after being called to bat. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 57, and Shardul Thakur led KKR in scoring with 68.
Player of the Game was awarded to Shardul Thakur. Karn Sharma and David Willey each grabbed two wickets for the RCB, while Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel, and Michael Bracewell each took one wicket.
After this victory, KKR has moved up to third place in the IPL 2023 points standings, behind Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings. The Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad will face off in the IPL today at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The game will begin at 7:30.
