Itahari Gold Cup: Church Boys and Army battle it out for the title

Sunsari, The 14th edition of the International Invitational Control Ithari Gold Cup held in Sunsari will be contested between Church Boys United and the divisional team Tribhuvan Army Club.

Jhapa Gold Cup champion Church Boys confirmed the clash with the Army by defeating host Rashtiya Jagruti Club by 1-0 in the last semi-final held at Itahari Stadium on Thursday.

The goal scored by Samir Tamang at the end of the game was decisive for the Church Boys. He scored the decisive goal in the 89th minute of the game. He was declared the man of the match and won 10,000 rupees in cash.

The runners-up of the last edition, Church Boys, will now compete with Army in the final on Saturday for the title.

The Army's previous winner, Sagarmatha Club Morangmathi, has come close to the title by winning 2-1 in the penalty shootout. The winner of the final match will receive 1 million rupees in cash.

The runner-up will have to pay Rs. 5 lakh.
