Janakpur Bolts Register Their First Victory in NPL, Defeat Chitwan Rhinos by 6 Wickets
Kathmandu — Janakpur Bolts clinched their first win of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) season with an impressive 6-wicket victory over Chitwan Rhinos in the 20th match held at the TU International Cricket Ground.
Chasing a target of 177 runs, Janakpur reached 180/4 in 17.3 overs, completing a dominant run chase to secure their maiden win of the season.
Janakpur’s triumph was powered by a superb opening partnership. Maj Sadaqat top-scored with a brilliant 63 off 30 balls, smashing 6 fours and 4 sixes. Anil Sah also starred with 61 runs off 36 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes.
Opener Aasif Sheikh added 18, while Jan Nicol contributed 11. Aditya Mehta (18)* and Sanjay Krishnamurthy (5)* remained unbeaten to guide the team home.
For Chitwan, Sohail Tanvir, Kamal Singh Airee, and Amar Singh Routela each claimed one wicket.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat, Chitwan Rhinos posted 176/4 in 20 overs.
Opener David Malan played a commanding knock of 84 runs, while Arjun Saud added 52. Saif Zaib (7) and Ravi Bopara (3) fell cheaply, whereas captain Kushal Malla remained unbeaten on 30 off 14 balls.
In Janakpur’s bowling attack, Maj Sadaqat, Anil Sah, Rupesh Singh, and Jan Nicol took one wicket each.
With this win, Janakpur moved to seventh position in the points table with 2 points from 5 matches.
Chitwan Rhinos, despite the loss, remain in fourth position with 2 wins from 5 matches.
