Kathmandu — KVC Hounds secured a commanding 105–72 victory over PlayBox Arena on Wednesday at the Dasharath Covered Hall in Tripureshwor, marking their fifth consecutive win in the Himalayan Java Basketball League (HJNB 2026).
The Hounds now have 13 points from eight games, maintaining a strong lead throughout all four quarters with scores of 22–10, 28–15, 34–29, and 21–18. Team captain Vijay Burja led the charge with 28 points and was named Player of the Match.
Earlier on Tuesday night, GoldenGate overwhelmed ROEL with a 108–46 victory, claiming their seventh win of the season. GoldenGate has accumulated 15 points from eight games, strengthening their position at the top of the league table.
The second edition of HJNB 2026, organized by the Nepal Basketball Association (NEBA), features eight teams competing in a double round-robin format, with a total of 56 league games scheduled. The top four teams after the league stage will advance to the playoffs. The playoff format includes a first qualifier between the first and second-ranked teams and an eliminator between the third and fourth-ranked teams. The loser of the first qualifier and the winner of the eliminator will face off in the second qualifier, with the winners of the qualifiers meeting in the final.
The championship winner will receive NPR 400,000, the runner-up NPR 200,000, and the third-placed team NPR 100,000. Additionally, the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) will be awarded a special prize for outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
