Lalitpur, August 21: Lalitpur Queens have confirmed the continuation of Thai player Waranya Srilaoang for the second edition of the Everest Women’s Volleyball League. The announcement was made through the team’s official social media channels on Wednesday.
Waranya played a crucial role in the previous edition, where Lalitpur Queens finished as runners-up. She is expected to arrive in Nepal next week to join the team for the upcoming tournament, which will take place from Bhadra 20 to 28.
Earlier, Lalitpur had also signed Thai setter Patrathip Santrakul to strengthen their squad.
The team will once again be led by one of Nepal’s most successful volleyball coaches, Utsav Khadka. Star player Salina Shrestha will captain the squad as the marquee player.
In the recent player auction, Lalitpur secured several key domestic talents, including Sangam Mahato, Laxmi Chand, Sunita Rai, Salina Budha Magar, Nisha Chaudhary, Srishti Khadgi, and Bhawana Dangi.
In a move to promote the team’s image, Lalitpur Queens have appointed three-time South Asian Games gold medalist Ayasha Shakya as their goodwill ambassador.
The Everest Women’s Volleyball League promises high-intensity action as top teams compete for the title later this month.
