Nepal ‘A’ Crushes Oman by 115 Runs in Second Practice Match to Level Series

Kathmandu: Nepal ‘A’ secured a dominating 115-run victory over Oman in their second practice match, riding on a complete all-round performance at the Upper Cricket Ground in Mulpani on Friday.

With this significant win, Nepal ‘A’ bounced back after losing the opening match and has leveled the two-match series at 1–1. Oman, currently in Nepal to prepare for the upcoming World Cup League 2, had defeated the home side by 70 runs on Thursday.

After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal ‘A’ produced a strong batting display to post a formidable total of 284 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Player of the Match Ishan Pandey top-scored for the hosts with a mature innings of 69 runs off 78 balls, smashing 6 boundaries. Captain Dev Khanal played a crucial anchoring role, scoring 64 runs off 95 balls, while all-rounder Kushal Malla provided the much-needed acceleration with an aggressive 57 runs off just 32 balls. For Oman, Jitenkumar Ramanandi was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets.

Chasing a demanding target of 285 runs, Oman struggled to build substantial partnerships and was bowled out for 169 in 36.3 overs. Mujibur Ali fought a lone battle, scoring 43 runs. Other notable contributors were Ramanandi (24) and Vinayak Shukla (21).

Yuvraj Khatri led the bowling charge for Nepal ‘A’ with an impactful spell, taking 3 wickets for 24 runs in his 6 overs, which included a maiden. Hemant Dhami, Akash Chand, and Sher Malla all chipped in with 2 wickets each, while Santosh Yadav picked up one wicket to complete a memorable win.

Oman will now turn their focus to the World Cup League 2 tri-series, where they are scheduled to face the UAE on Monday and the Nepal national team on Wednesday.
