Nepal's U-19 boys' team has successfully reached the pre-quarterfinals of the 29th Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship. The tournament is currently being held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
In the Group 1 match, Nepal defeated Saudi Arabia 3-1, securing their spot in the pre-quarterfinals. With three points, Nepal finished as the group runners-up, advancing to the next stage. The team's captain, Jackie Maharjan, confirmed the achievement.
The Nepalese squad includes players Pravesh Basnet, Himal Bishwokarma, and Gananjay Dahal. The group also consisted of India and Saudi Arabia, with India emerging as the group winners after defeating both Nepal and Saudi Arabia.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Nepal will face Malaysia. Both Team Captain Jackie Maharjan and Coach Mohandas Basukala emphasized that this is a historic moment for Nepalese table tennis, marking a significant milestone in the country's sporting journey.
