Nepal Kabaddi League Season 2: Franchise Owners of Six Teams Unveiled

Kathmandu: The organizers of the Nepal Kabaddi League (NKL) have officially unveiled the franchise owners for the upcoming Season 2. The announcement was made during an event held at Hotel Yak & Yeti on Saturday by Astronix Management.

Among the key updates, former president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Bhavani Rana, through National Investment Holding Pvt. Ltd., has acquired the Biratnagar franchise. The team has also undergone rebranding, changing its name from Biratnagar Bandits to Biratnagar Bahubali.

The defending champions Janakpur Knights will continue under the ownership of Neco Insurance Limited, maintaining continuity from the first season. Meanwhile, the runners-up Kathmandu Mavericks are now owned by Kathmandu Mavericks Pvt. Ltd.

Similarly, Fewa Construction Pvt. Ltd. has taken ownership of Pokhara Lakers, while Morai Corporation Pvt. Ltd. owns Butwal Bulls. Notably, the Butwal franchise, which previously competed as Himalayan Raiders, has been rebranded as Butwal Bulls.

The Sudurpashchim-based team Dhangadhi Wildcats will be represented under Dhangadhi Wildcats Pvt. Ltd.

Speaking at the event, Astronix Management chief Amit Kumar Begani expressed satisfaction over the growing involvement of corporate houses in the league. He stated that after successfully organizing the first edition, the organizers are committed to making Season 2 even more impactful. He also emphasized that increased corporate participation will help elevate the league and contribute to the global growth of Nepali kabaddi.

The NKL, which has been gaining popularity across the country, is expected to reach new heights with stronger commercial backing and more competitive participation in its second season.
