Nepal Police Club Retain Jay Trophy Title, Defeat Army in Final

Kathmandu, March 19: Nepal Police Club successfully defended their Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup title, defeating Tribhuvan Army Club by four wickets in the final to secure back-to-back championships.

Chasing a target of 227 runs set by Army, Police completed the run chase losing six wickets in a well-contested final. Rashid Khan played a match-winning innings, scoring a composed 81 runs off 128 balls, including eight boundaries and three sixes. Kushal Bhurtel contributed a crucial half-century with 51 runs, while Dinesh Karki added 25 and skipper Aarif Sheikh chipped in with 14.

For Army, Pawan Karki and Shahab Alam picked up two wickets each, while Aakash Chand and Bhim Sharki claimed one wicket apiece.

Earlier, Army posted 226 runs in their innings, with Aakash Chand top-scoring with 37 runs. Kushal Malla (36), Shahab Alam (33), and Bhim Sharki (32) also made notable contributions. In response, Police bowlers delivered a strong performance, led by Sagar Dhakal who took four wickets. Karan KC and Lalit Rajbanshi supported well with three wickets each.

The final had earlier seen both teams score 221 runs each in the first innings, adding to the intensity of the contest. Originally scheduled as a two-day match, the final was extended to a three-day format after being postponed due to elections.

The tournament featured the top four teams from the previous Prime Minister Cup—Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, APF Club, and Bagmati Province.
