Nepal Qualifies for ACC U-19 Asia Cup After Defeating Malaysia by 9 Wickets

Kathmandu — Nepal has secured a place in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup after defeating Malaysia by 9 wickets in the semifinal match of the ACC U-19 Premier Cup. In the match held at the Ajman Cricket Ground in the UAE, Malaysia won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a modest target of 52 runs for Nepal.

Malaysia struggled against Nepal’s disciplined bowling attack and was bowled out for just 51 runs in 17.2 overs. For Nepal, Nitesh Kumar Patel delivered an exceptional performance, taking 4 wickets while conceding 24 runs in his 8 overs, including 2 maidens. Similarly, Chandan Ram claimed 3 wickets, giving away 17 runs with 1 maiden in his 5 overs. Aparijit Paudel, Ashok Dhami, and Roshan Biswakarma took one wicket each.

Chasing the target of 52, Nepal comfortably reached 55 runs in 7.5 overs, losing only one wicket. Bansh Kshetri (23*) and Nishchal Kshetri (15*) guided the team to victory with unbeaten knocks. Niraj Kumar Yadav scored 4 runs before being dismissed. Malaysia’s only wicket was taken by Mohammad Akram.

With this win, Nepal has entered the final of the ACC U-19 Premier Cup. In the title clash, Nepal will face the winner of the second semifinal between the UAE and Oman. The top three teams of the tournament will qualify for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup.

The ACC U-19 Asia Cup will be held in the UAE from December 12 to 21. The competition will feature three teams qualifying from the Premier Cup along with test-playing nations India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.
