Nepal Secures Second Victory in Women’s Blind T20 World Cup, Defeats Australia by Eight Wickets
Kathmandu, Nov 15 — Nepal registered its second win in the ongoing Women’s Blind T20 World Cup in India, delivering a dominant eight-wicket victory over Australia on Saturday.
Chasing a target of 137 runs, Nepal comfortably reached 138/2 in 14.5 overs, powered by an impressive batting display. Vinita Somai led the chase with a superb unbeaten 56, while Mankeshi Chaudhary contributed a steady 43 not out. Sushma Tamang added 22 valuable runs at the top of the order.
Earlier, winning the toss and opting to bat first, Australia posted 136/6 in 20 overs. Courtney Louis top-scored with 31 runs, followed by Jennifer Perry with 30 and Amelia Hurt with 21. Nepal’s disciplined fielding proved crucial, with five Australian batters run out during the innings. Sunita Bhujel picked up Nepal’s only wicket with the ball.
With this victory, Nepal has now collected four points from three matches and stands in second place in the group standings. Australia remains in fifth position following the defeat.
Nepal had begun its campaign with a win over Sri Lanka but suffered a setback against hosts India in the second match. The latest victory puts the team firmly back in contention for the knockout stage.
