Nepal Set to Face UAE in Historic Night T20I Series Opener
KATHMANDU – The Nepal National Cricket Team is geared up to take on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the first match of a two-game T20 International (T20I) series today. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
This series marks a significant milestone in Nepalese cricket history as it will be the first time a series is played under floodlights on home soil.
A New Era of Leadership
In a strategic move, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has introduced a split-captaincy model for the first time. While the ODI and T20 squads have traditionally shared leadership and core players, this series sees a major shift:
-
Captaincy: All-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee will lead the T20I side.
-
Squad Changes: Established stars like Rohit Paudel, Sompal Kami, and Karan KC are notably absent from the T20 roster, making way for a fresh lineup.

Match Schedule
Following today's opener, the two teams will return to the crease tomorrow for the second and final match of the series. Fans are expected to turn out in large numbers to witness the historic night match atmosphere at the iconic TU Ground.
