Nepal Start Blind Women’s T20 World Cup with a Dominant Win over Sri Lanka

Manakeshi Chaudhary shines with an unbeaten 61 as Nepal secure a nine-wicket victory in their opening match

Kathmandu, November 12 – Nepal made a remarkable start to the ongoing Blind Women’s T20 World Cup in India, registering a convincing nine-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in their opening match on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 88 runs, Nepal reached the total in just 5.2 overs, losing only one wicket. Opener Manakeshi Chaudhary played a blistering knock of 61 not out off just 22 balls, smashing 11 boundaries. Vinita Pun contributed 13 runs, while Sushma Tamang remained unbeaten on 4.

Earlier, Sri Lanka, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, managed to post 87 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Mihirani Dulanjali top-scored for Sri Lanka with 23 runs, while Sanduni Saumaya added 13 runs.

For Nepal, Kanti Yogi was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets. Vinita Pun and Laxmi Lama took one wicket each. With her explosive batting display, Manakeshi Chaudhary was named the Player of the Match.

Nepal will next face host nation India on Friday in their second group-stage match.

This is the first-ever edition of the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup, featuring teams from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Australia, the USA, and England.
