Nepal Swimming Team Leaves for India to Compete in Asian Aquatics Championship

Kathmandu, Sept 24:
A 23-member Nepali swimming team, including 16 athletes, is set to leave for Ahmedabad, India, on Friday to take part in the 11th edition of the Asian Aquatics Championship.

The championship will run from September 28 to October 11, where 11 male and 5 female swimmers will represent Nepal.

The men’s squad includes Avir Pradhan, Aaron Bhandari, Asim Bhandari, Kalkin Shrestha, Alvin Maharjan, Abhibh Pradhan, Revant Bahadur Shrestha, Jaden Shrestha, Nirnay Thapa, Atharva Singh, and Vasishth Raj Shahi. The women’s lineup features Arya Maharjan, Tisha Maharjan, Adipsha Vaidya, Shrenu Maharjan, and Bhainavi Shrestha.

The coaching and management team comprises head coach Shankar Karki, officials Deepak Sagar Singh Maharjan, Navina Shrestha, Suman Maharjan, and Indrajit Rajbhandari. Likewise, Bishnu Khadka Kshetri and Anish Maharjan will serve as referees.

The team was formally bid farewell at a ceremony in Satdobato on Wednesday by National Sports Council Member-Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising and Nepal Swimming Association President Jagatman Shrestha.
