Nepal Table Tennis Team to Compete in Asian Youth Championship in Uzbekistan
Kathmandu, June 24 – An eight-member Nepali table tennis team, including six players, is set to depart for Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Wednesday to participate in the 29th edition of the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship.
The tournament will be held from June 26 to July 2, where Nepal will be represented by three male and three female players. The male players include Prabesh Basnet, Himal Bista, and Gananjaya Dahal, while the female players are Yonggi Poudel, Bianca Rai, and Ivana Thapa.
The team will be led by team manager Jacky Maharjan, with Mohan Das Basukala serving as the coach.
On Tuesday, the National Sports Council (NSC) Member-Secretary Tankalal Ghising bid farewell to the team during a special ceremony in Kathmandu. Also present at the event were President of the All Nepal Table Tennis Association, Brijendra Bahadur Hamal, and General Secretary Kunwar Prakash Singh, among other officials.
The championship will feature top youth talents from across Asia, providing valuable international exposure for Nepal’s rising table tennis stars.
