Nepal were defeated by Oman by five runs in the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier

Kathmandu, Nepal, suffered a five-run defeat against Oman in a match today under the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers. The match was played at the Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.

With this victory, Oman has become the winner of Group 'A', while Nepal is the first runner-up. Nepal was limited to 140 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing nine wickets. Oman had posted a target of 146 runs for Nepal.

For Nepal, Bibek Yadav made the highest number of runs off 24 balls, followed by Kushal Bhurtel at 26 and Karan KC at 15. Similarly, Ashif Sheikh contributed five, Sompal Kami, Captain Rohit Poudel, and Sandeep Jora contributed 12 each, and Gulshan Jha contributed three.

Oman's Bilal Khan took three wickets, while Aqib Ilyas, Shakeel Ahmad, and Mehran Khan took two each. Likewise, captain Zeeshan Maqsood bagged one.

Earlier, invited into bat first after losing the toss, Oman hit 145 in the allotted 20 overs at the loss of nine wickets.

For Oman, Zeeshan Maqsood made the highest 32 runs off 26 balls. Similarly, Naseem Khusi scored 25, Pratik Athavale scored 24, Shakeel Ahmad scored 22, and Ayaan Khan scored 18.

For Nepal, Karan KC took three wickets, while Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane took two each. Likewise, Gulshan Jha and Avinash Bohora took one each.

Nepal will play against the UAE, the winner of Group 'B', in the semifinals on Friday.
