Nepali Medal-Winning Hapkido Athletes Honored in Kathmandu

Special Felicitation Ceremony Held Following Success at International Hapkido Championship 2025

Kathmandu, June 28 – The Nepal Hapkido Association organized a special felicitation ceremony in Kathmandu to honor the Nepali athletes who won medals at the International Hapkido Championship 2025, held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from June 24 to 25.

At the championship, Samir Gurung and Rajendra Tamang brought home gold medals, while Saroj Gurung won a silver medal, making Nepal proud on the global stage.

Honoring National Pride
The chief guest of the event, Dhruba Acharya, Vice President of the National Sports Council (NSC), presented certificates of appreciation to the medalists. In his address, Acharya praised the athletes for their dedication and performance, stating:

“Winning medals on international platforms is not just a personal achievement but a national message that Nepali youth are capable of competing globally.”

He emphasized the importance of supporting and protecting talented athletes, urging the government and sports bodies to invest more in their growth and future.

Voices of Support and Commitment
Speaking at the event, Kalibahadur Gharti Magar, president of the Nepal Hapkido Association, highlighted the athletes' contributions and the nation's growing presence in international martial arts. He committed to expanding efforts in training, competitions, and infrastructure development, especially at the grassroots level.

He further announced the association’s plans to:

Organize school-level programs in rural areas

Host provincial-level championships

Conduct coaching development training

The event was attended by:

Indra Bahadur Mahara, General Secretary of the Nepal Hapkido Association

Association officials, coaches, players, and their families

Members of the media and martial arts enthusiasts

The ceremony concluded with warm congratulations and best wishes to the medal-winning athletes for continued success in future international competitions.
