Nepali Team Departs for 25th Summer Deaflympics in Tokyo

Kathmandu, Nepal officially departed for Tokyo, Japan, on Friday to participate in the 25th edition of the Summer Deaflympics, scheduled to take place from November 15 to 26. A total of 10 athletes from Nepal will compete across six different sports disciplines.

Nepali Athletes Competing in the Deaflympics

  • Taekwondo: Kiran Lama

  • Table Tennis: Sanjit Shrestha

  • Athletics: Tildevi Garbuja, Nirajan Subedi

  • Badminton: Mahendra Limbu Fudong, Ghan Bahadur Thapa, Jamuna Acharya

  • Karate: Senam Chhiring Lama

  • Judo: Sushma Tamang, Lucky Chaudhary (already in Japan)

Taekwondo coach Rajendra Khatri will lead the taekwondo contingent.

Team Leadership and Officials

The team leaders for various sports include
Jagan Singh Dhami, Saroj Kumar Pokhrel, Devraj Katuwal, Jhamak Prasad Gautam, Bikram Ghale, and Bir Bahadur Gurung.

Officials accompanying the team are:

  • Kul Prasad Bhattarai

  • Interpreters: Dinesh Shrestha and Navin Shrestha

Farewell Ceremony Held in Kathmandu

The Nepali delegation was given an official farewell on Friday by:

  • National Sports Council (NSC) Member-Secretary: Tanka Lal Ghising

  • Joint Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports: Ramcharitra Mehta

  • NSC Executive Committee Members: Bhan Bahadur Chand and Suvarna Shrestha

  • NSC Member: Himal Shrestha

They extended best wishes to the athletes as they embark on a major international stage representing Nepal.

Nepal’s participation in the 25th Summer Deaflympics marks an important step in promoting inclusive sports and supporting athletes with hearing disabilities to compete globally with pride.
