Kathmandu — The National Sports Council (NSC) has suspended the executive committee of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) for three months. The decision was taken citing repeated violations of directives and in accordance with Section 29(2) of the Sports Development Regulations, 2077.
Earlier, the NSC had directed ANFA not to hold an “early election.” On Tuesday, the council issued a formal notice demanding a written explanation within 24 hours, warning ANFA not to conduct the election scheduled for Chaitra 13 without proper approval.
Despite these directives, ANFA maintained that the election would proceed legally. The association stated that it would follow the regulations of FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and its own statutes while conducting the election.
Although the NSC has imposed the suspension, ANFA’s election is still scheduled to take place on Chaitra 13 (Friday) in Jhapa. The development has sparked discussions about governance and compliance within Nepalese football administration.
