Olympic champion Canada was held to a 0-0 draw by Nigeria in Group B of the FIFA Women's World Cup this morning in Melbourne, Australia.

Chiamaka Nnadozie of Nigeria, a goalie, made several crucial stops, including one on a penalty from veteran Christine Sinclair of Canada. Sinclair, who has 190 goals overall for men's or women's international soccer, missed a key opportunity.

At Forsyth Barr Stadium in New Zealand, a Group A match between the Philippines and Switzerland is now in progress. Spain will play Costa Rica in the third and final game of the day at Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington, New Zealand. The game will begin at 1:00 PM. In yesterday's tournament opener at Auckland's Eden Park, New Zealand triumphed over Norway. Australia defeated the Republic of Ireland in Sydney in another game that day. The ninth iteration of the biennial international competition is being co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. With two co-hosts, it is the first Women's World Cup.
