Premier Golf Championship tees off today

Kathmandu, The final event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22, Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship will tee off at Gokarna Golf Club on Tuesday. 

The event will be played over 72 holes from May 23 to 26. There will be a cut applied after 2 rounds (36 holes). Only top 21 pros and ties will make their journey to the final 36 holes along with top six amateurs and ties and those who make the professional cut. 

Over 40 professional golfers will test their skills for the title worth of Rs. 250,000. Runner-up will get Rs. 155,000, third place will earn Rs 110,000, fourth place will take home Rs. 95,000 and fifth place will pocket Rs 87,000.

A total of 12 Amateurs will be rubbing their shoulders with the professionals in this tournament. 

Prize money leaders Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Jayaram Shrestha, Sukra Bahadur Rai, along with 13th South Asian Games double gold medalist Subash Tamang are strong contenders of the event. 

Sadbhav Acharya, Tashi Tshiring, Wangchen Dhondup are vying for amateur's trophy. 

Meanwhile, the team of pro Purna Sharma won the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship pro-am title at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club on Sunday. 

Pro Purna was teamed with amateurs Mahendra Phagami, Samir Acharya and Kashmira Shah. 

The team scored 153 points, Pro Purna made 44 points, Mahendra scored 38, Samir got 36 and Kashmira scored 35 points.  

The team of pro Sanjay Lama (38) and amateurs Col. Bikash Shah (35), Babu Sherpa (35), and Col Pratap Bohara (34) accumulated a total of 142 for the second place.  While the team of pro Rabi Khadka (38) and amateurs Ang Dendi Sherpa (34), Chandra Limbu (34) and Kishor Basnet (34) got 140 points for the third place. 

In all, 113 players including 24 pros took part in the Pro-Am event played under stableford 3/4 handicap format.
