PV Sindhu is once again let down when Lakshya Sen enters the final

Canada Open 2023: Lakshya Sen easily defeated Japanese opponent Kenta Nishimoto in straight sets to secure his spot in the championship round. Lakshya will also get her best season performance as a result of this.

PV Sindhu, on the other hand, dropped another match and was eliminated from the semi-final. Sindhu has had a long history of poor performance. But in this competition, she finally appeared as she had before. Her performance in the knockout rounds, however, caused her run to be cut short.

Kenta Nishimoto of Japan was defeated in straight sets by Lakshya Sen. The impressive win demonstrated the skill of the 21-year-old. He has played incredibly well in this competition and never once seemed troubled when facing his Japanese opponent.

Sen is competing in his first major final in almost a year. In the 2022 Commonwealth Games in England, he made one final appearance. Sen now has a 2-1 advantage over the player ranked 11th in the world after this victory.

Sen would move up three spots to World No. 16 if he finishes with 53501 points, moving up from 19th place in the current rankings. He will go up to World Ranking 12 with 54901 points if he wins the Canada Open.

Another defeat in a significant competition was experienced by the seasoned Indian player. PV Sindhu was defeated 14-21, 15-21 by world no. 1 Akane Yamaguchi in straight sets. This is Sindhu's second straight defeat against the world's top-ranked player.

Since her injury-related comeback in January, Sindhu has failed to claim a single championship. In the year following her victory in the Commonwealth Games 2022, she sustained an ankle ailment. Since then, she has struggled to have an effect in significant competitions, including the Singapore Open, where she lost in the opening round.
