Kathmandu – The opening Super Eight match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup has been abandoned due to rain.
The match between Pakistan national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team, scheduled to be played on Sunday in Colombo, was called off without a result because of persistent rain. Both teams shared one point each following the washout.
Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bat first. However, rain began shortly after the toss and did not subside, forcing officials to abandon the match.
The Super Eight stage of the tournament began on Saturday. From the 20 participating nations, hosts India and Sri Lanka, along with Zimbabwe, West Indies, South Africa, Pakistan, England, and New Zealand progressed to the Super Eight stage.
In the Super Eight round, Group 1 consists of India, South Africa, West Indies, and Zimbabwe, while Group 2 features England, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
