Shibali to Compete in Asia-Pacific Elite U-14 Trophy

KATHMANDU, Jan 2:
Nepali tennis player Shibali Gurung is set to compete in the Asia-Pacific Elite U-14 Trophy, scheduled to be held from January 28 to 30 in Melbourne, Australia.

Ranked fourth in Asia in the U-14 age group, Shibali will travel to Malaysia on Sunday as part of her preparations before heading to Australia, according to Ajay Bista, Secretary of the Nepal Tennis Association. She is scheduled to fly to Australia directly from Malaysia.

Shibali was formally seen off at a special program organized on Friday at the National Sports Council (NSC) in Tripureshwar. Minister for Youth and Sports Bablu Gupta and NSC Member-Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta bid farewell to the young athlete.

Also present at the event were NSC Executive Committee member Bhan Bahadur Chand, NSC members Himal Kumar Shrestha and Jagat Singh Dhami, and Nepal Tennis Association President Manohar Das Mul, among others.
