Singapore National Team Head Coach Tsutomu Ogura Steps Down
Singapore, June 24, 2025 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has announced that Mr. Tsutomu Ogura has officially stepped down from his role as head coach of the Singapore National Football Team with immediate effect, citing personal reasons.
Mr. Ogura had informed FAS of his decision several weeks ago, expressing the need to return to Japan to attend to urgent personal matters. Despite extensive discussions aimed at finding a solution to retain him, the situation ultimately required his full attention back home.
In a statement, FAS expressed its gratitude to Mr. Ogura for his professionalism and dedication during his tenure, wishing him and his family the very best for the future.
In the interim, Gavin Lee, former head coach of BG Tampines Rovers FC, has been appointed to lead the national side. FAS also confirmed that the process to identify and appoint a new permanent head coach is already underway.
The association aims to bring in a candidate who can drive the national team forward with strong leadership and a clear footballing vision.
