South Asian skateboards from tomorrow

Kathmandu, The fifth South Asian Skateboard Competition and Skate Jatra, a joint project of the Nepal Skateboard and Skateboarding Association and Skate Aid Nepal, will be held in Butwal on Thursday. This is the second edition of the competition and the fifth edition of the Skate Jatra.

According to Achyut Khanal, the president of the organizing association, nine countries will participate in the competition, including Nepal from South Asia, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Pakistan, and the Maldives, as well as the invited countries, Myanmar and Thailand. It is said that 100 players from Nepal will participate. According to the association, 40 players have been invited from each of the remaining countries.

On the first day, there will be qualifying matches. From the selection stage, 16 players from each country will enter the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, eight players from each country will enter the title race.

There will be competitions in the Games of Skateboard and West Run for men and women. Based on the competition performances of both, the top three players will be decided. The top three finishers in both male and female categories will receive cash prizes of USD 1,000, USD 500, and USD 250, respectively. The three-day competition will be played at Dunga Skate Park in Tilottama, Butwal, according to Jagrit Pahari, vice president of the organizing association and competition coordinator.

According to Chairman Khanal, the male and female athletes who get the top three positions in the competition will also be given the opportunity to train at Skate Aid International in Germany.
