Kathmandu, August 11 – Nepal’s most lucrative domestic table tennis competition, the Stag Global Champions League, is set to return for its third season in the first week of Bhadra (early September).
The league, which has been attracting international talent, is organized by the Stag Champions Table Tennis Academy under the supervision of the All Nepal Table Tennis Association (ANTTA). This year’s event will feature players from four countries—China, India, Pakistan, and Chinese Taipei—making it one of the most diverse editions so far.
The competition will run from Bhadra 1 to 6 (August 17–22) at the National Table Tennis Training Center in Lainchaur, Kathmandu.
At a press conference held Wednesday, Academy Director and nine-time national champion Navita Shrestha announced that the number of participating clubs has increased from eight to ten this season. The competing teams include:
Yala Table Tennis
Hopes Table Tennis Academy
AVM Table Tennis Club
The Dragon Club
Kirtipur Municipality
Vortex Nepal
Old House Restro
Top Spin Table Tennis Goods Nepal
Kholcha Pukhu Sports Committee
One additional club (not specified)
Each team is required to include one male and one female international player.
The prize money has been increased from last year’s total of NPR 400,000 to NPR 600,000. The champion team will receive NPR 300,000 along with a running trophy. The runner-up will be awarded NPR 150,000, while the two third-place teams will receive NPR 75,000 each.
Shrestha also highlighted efforts to enhance the tournament experience with digital lighting and improved venue aesthetics.
The tournament has also attracted sponsorships, with Suman Khadgi, a social worker and vice president of ANTTA, Metal Shapers, Metalwood Nepal, Delta Autocorp, Celtron Nepal Pvt. Ltd., and Call Mobility Pvt. Ltd., partnering as co-sponsors.
Past winners include AVM Table Tennis Club (Season 1) and Nepal Police Club (Season 2). However, Nepal Police Club will not be participating this year.
With rising international participation and growing prize money, the Stag Global Champions League continues to solidify its place as Nepal’s premier table tennis event.
