Stan Wawrinka's shocking admission following his defeat by Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon in 2023

Wimbledon 2023: The two rivals' top matchup at Wimbledon 2023 was a one-sided contest. And the second-ranked player in the world, Novak Djokovic, is entirely to blame for it since he never gave his challenger a chance.

In his match against the Serbian, Stan Wawrinka appeared to be absolutely out of his element. Despite former major matches where the Swiss held the advantage against Djokovic, this match was quite different.

The victory also ended Djokovic's ten-year monopoly on the grass court. In the centre court, he has now gone almost ten years without dropping a game. Regarding the tennis prodigy from Serbia and his streak, Stan Wawrinka made some intriguing remarks.

Wawrinka was crushed by Djokovic in straight sets and never had a chance. It appeared for the first two sets that the Serbian was playing in a practise match rather than a Wimbledon third-round contest. Wawrinka had no interest in the sport.

Stan was defeated by Djokovic 6-3,6-1,7-6 in three sets. Although the third set was a little bit competitive, Serbian ultimately found a way to handily defeat the Swiss international. Djokovic's skill was especially evident in the second set.

This was their 27th meeting, with Djokovic holding a sizable advantage. Before this match, Djokovic had triumphed in 20 of their previous 26 games. However, in their last three high-profile meetings, Wawrinka had Djokovic's number, which made this match extremely thrilling.

Following the game, Wawrinka praised and admired Serbian without reservation. He acknowledged Novak Djokovic as the top player in the world and said he wasn't likely to lose any time soon.

"Djokovic is the world's best player. He is defeatable by someone. One match can result in numerous outcomes. But if I saw it here, I would be shocked. Following the game, the Swiss said.
