Rajbiraj, June 27: In a thrilling final league match of the Rajbiraj Mayor Cup Saptari Women’s Pride League—Season 2, Surunga Survivals defeated Rajbiraj Royals by 23 runs at the Pabima School cricket ground in Rajbiraj.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Surunga Survivals posted an impressive total of 175 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Star batter Roma Thapa led the charge with a brilliant 74 runs off 44 balls, smashing 11 boundaries. She was well supported by Sana Prabin (41 runs) and Sanu Rajbanshi, who remained unbeaten on 39 runs. For Rajbiraj Royals, Chandni Khatun and Sakshi Yadav picked up one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 176, Rajbiraj Royals put up a strong fight but managed only 152 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Shivani Sah top-scored with an unbeaten 54 off 48 balls, including 8 boundaries. Pranish Ranamagar contributed 36 runs, followed by Pratima Sah with 28 and Apeksha Yadav with 21. In bowling, Saraswati Chaudhary took 2 wickets, while Rozi Kadari and Bidhya Ram claimed a wicket each for Surunga.

Roma Thapa was named Player of the Match for her match-winning knock, anchoring Surunga’s strong total and earning them a crucial victory.

Despite the loss, Rajbiraj Royals have qualified for the final alongside Khadak Queens, setting up an exciting title clash scheduled for Saturday.
