UAE bundle out Nepal for 8 runs

Kathmandu, Nepali eves put up a wretched performance at the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers 2022 as they were bundled out for just eight runs before conceding the match with a  huge 10-wicket defeat to  United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their second match held at Cricket Oval, Bangi, Malaysian on Saturday.

UAE batters chased the victory target of nine runs in 1.1 overs without losing a wicket in the allocated 20 overs match. UAE opener duo captain Theertha Satish and Lavanya Keny an easily meet the target of just nine runs set by Nepal.

Opener and Captain Satish scored unbeaten four runs and her opening partner Keny contributed three runs to register the record victory over Nepal. Captain Satish scored four runs off four balls and Keny scored three runs off four balls.

Mahika Gaur claimed five wickets for UAE while Indhuja Nandakumar grabbed a three wickets and Samaira Dharnidharka contributed one runs to pack-up Nepal in the single digit. Earlier, Nepal won the toss and elected to bat before collapsing to the record lowest total as all   Nepali batters were dismissed for just eight runs. 

Nepal made a very poor start against UAE as their openers Anjali BK returned scoring no run while her opening partner Kiran Kumari Kunwar fell for just one run.

Sneha Mahara scored highest three runs for Nepal. Mahara scored three runs off 10 balls she faced while Maneesha Rana scored two runs and Anu Kadayat run out in the one run. Similarly, other batters of Nepal failed to withstand the attack from the UAE bowlers. The top team from the qualifiers will secure their spot at the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 will be held at South Africa. 

This is the poorest show from the Nepali batting line-up ever at the international arena in the national team and different age groups. Earlier, Nepal made a winning start in the qualifiers after they registered a 79 runs victory over Qatar in the opener of the qualifiers on Friday. 

 Altogether, six teams including host Malaysia, Nepal, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thailand, Qatar and Bhutan are taking part in the qualifier.

Nepal will face their South Asian regional rival Bhutan in their third match on Monday. Likewise, Nepal will meet Thailand in their fourth match on Tuesday and will take on host Malaysia in their last match of the qualifiers on Thursday.
