Chennai: In an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup warm-up match, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have set a target of 146 runs for Nepal. The day-night practice match is being played at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where Nepal won the toss and elected to field first.
Batting first, UAE scored 145 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Sohail Khan remained unbeaten on 38 runs, while Harshit Kaushik played an aggressive knock of 35 runs off 24 balls. Aryansh Sharma contributed 25 runs but failed to convert his start into a big innings.
For Nepal, the bowlers put in a disciplined performance. Karan KC picked up 2 wickets for 26 runs in his 3 overs, while Sandeep Lamichhane claimed 2 wickets conceding 24 runs in his 4 overs. Dipendra Singh Airee also bowled economically, taking 1 wicket for just 12 runs in 3 overs. The remaining bowlers went wicketless.
Although the total is moderate, UAE accelerated the scoring in the final overs, making the chase slightly challenging for Nepal. With the T20 World Cup approaching, this warm-up match is considered crucial preparation, and all eyes are now on Nepal’s batting performance.
