West Indies announce team for 2023 CWC Qualifier

Kathmandu, The team to compete in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 Qualifiers was announced today by the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Men's Selection Panel. The ten-team competition will begin on June 18 in Zimbabwe, where the West Indies will attempt to clinch one of the two remaining spots in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, which will take place in India later this year.

Prior to the qualifiers, the West Indies will face the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series in Sharjah. The Selection Panel also picked the roster for those games, which will be contested on June 5, 7, and 9. These games will be part of the qualifying preparations.

CWI has given permission to players participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to return to the Caribbean for a short break before arriving in Zimbabwe for the qualification tournament.

Both left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie and all-rounder Keemo Paul, who last competed in ODIs against India in Trinidad in July, have been recalled. Four uncapped players, including left-handed batter Alick Athanaze and all-rounders Kavem Hodge, Dominic Drakes, and Akeem Jordan, are also included in the squad for the three ODIs in Sharjah.
