Kathmandu Gorkhas Secure Fourth Win in NPL Season 2
Kathmandu — Kathmandu Gorkhas registered their fourth victory in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2 after defeating Karnali Yaks by 5 wickets at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 150 runs set by Karnali, Kathmandu reached 151 in 18 overs, losing five wickets in the process. With this win, Kathmandu have secured their fourth victory in six matches, while Karnali suffered their fourth loss. Karnali have managed to win only one match out of their five played so far.
Gerhard Erasmus and John Simpson led Kathmandu to victory with an excellent 86-run partnership. Simpson was dismissed for 41 runs, while Erasmus remained unbeaten on 43. Wayne Charlesworth added 34 runs, Milind Kumar scored 15, Akash Tripathi made 8, and Rashid Khan was out for a duck. For Karnali, Nandan Yadav took 3 wickets, while Pawan Sarraf claimed one.
Earlier, winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Karnali posted 149 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
For Karnali, Gulshan Jha played an aggressive knock, remaining unbeaten on 49 off just 22 balls. Mark Watt contributed 30 runs, Pawan Sarraf made 35, Najibullah Zadran scored 12, Priyank Panchal was out for 0, William Bosisto for 1, captain Sompal Kami for 6, and Deepak Dumre for 10.
In Kathmandu’s bowling attack, Rashid Khan picked up 2 wickets, while captain Karan KC, Milind Kumar, and Santosh Yadav took a wicket each.
