Tamang wins title of Rhishing Ultra Marathon

Damauli, Tirtha Raj Tamang has won the title of second Rhishing Ultra Marathon organised by the Rhishing rural municipality in Tanahu. Tamang of the Tribhuvan Army Club clocked 2 hours 51 minutes and 25 seconds to complete the 4-kilomter race.

Devraj Mahatara finished the race at 2 hours 54 minutes and 25 seconds, becoming the first runner up in the competition and the third position was secured by Suman Kulung Rai who took 3 hours 5 minutes and 46 seconds to complete the race. Pratap Khadka from Terhathum won the consolation price by completing the race at 3 hours 10 minutes and 45 seconds. A total of 49 participants raced for the title towards open competition.

According to rural municipality spokesperson Bijay Darai, the winner bagged the cash prize of Rs 65,000 while the first runner-up went home with the cash prize of Rs 40,000. The third prize carries the purse of Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 is for the consolation prize.

Likewise, towards four kilometers race in women category, Sita Ranabhat won the first position thus bagging the cash prize of Rs 10,000. The second position was secured by Yamuna Thapa who bagged Rs 8,000 and the third prize carrying a purse of Rs 5,000 went to Bishnu Pariyar. The consolation prize carrying a purse of Rs 2,000 was one by one runner.
