The Conquest of Pasang and Riddhi
Kathmandu, The first NSRA President's Cup Squash Championship, organised by the Nepal Squash and Rackets Association, began on Wednesday.
Pasang Blon Lama, Riddhi Shakya, Raj Maharjan, and Bikash Tumsing Magar made a winning start in the men's open on the first day of the competition held at the squash court at the Nepal Squash Rackets Association building in Satdobato.
Fourth seed Pasang easily defeated Abhan Shrestha 11-6, 11-0, and 11-5 in straight sets. Similarly, fifth-seeded Vikas made it to the second round by easily beating Aarambh Shrestha 11-3, 11-6, and 11-2. Abhan and Aarav have participated in the competition, representing the Pokhara Squash Association.
Dheer Pun, the sixth seed, was eliminated in the first round after losing the first two sets. He lost 6-11, 7-11, 11-7, 12-10, and 12-10. Riddi also beat Yan Rai 3-0 in straight sets to advance past the first round.
In the Masters 45+, Rajendra Shakya beat Indra Bahadur Karki 11-3, 11-5, 11-7, and Prajwal Pradhan beat Ghulam Ali 11-7, 11-5, 7-11, 11-5. Chadha won 11-5, 11-7, 11-7, and Shailesh Amatya beat Anil Bajracharya. 11-8, 6-11, 11-6, 6-11, 12-10. Similarly, Jitendra Joshi, Ratna Maharjan, and GM Shah defeated Dhir Pun in straight sets to reach the next round.
